News for Gillette and Campbell County
GILLETTE, Wyo. — A Gillette man is facing a second-degree sexual assault charge after an investigation into a May 29 incident at his home.
Adam Youman is accused of sexually assaulting his fiancée’s daughter, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed June 1 in the Circuit Court of the 6th Judicial District in Campbell County. He is presumed innocent until pleading or found guilty in a court of law.
The reported assault happened at the home Youman shared with his fiancée, where her daughter had recently started spending time, according to the affidavit.
Investigators say the complainant, Youman, his fiancée and three young children had dinner around 6 p.m. During the meal, Youman gave the complainant an alcoholic drink, according to the affidavit.
After dinner, Youman’s fiancée went upstairs to put the young children to bed. She did not come back downstairs that night. It was during that time that Youman is suspected of encouraging the complainant to drink more alcohol quickly, after which she became sick.
The affidavit states Youman suggested she remove her shirt to avoid vomiting on it, and then took a photo of her in her bra.
The court document states the sexual assault took place on the couch, where she had gone to lie down after vomiting. She told Gillette police that she repeatedly told Youman to stop.
Police said she visited the bathroom after, messaged a friend and excused herself from the house. The friend arrived and took her to the emergency room.
Investigators said they served two search warrants and collected evidence from her clothing, the couch, Youman’s phone, Youman’s clothing and two alcohol containers at the home. They also collected Youman’s DNA, the affidavit states.
Police report that Youman said he drank alcohol during dinner and did not remember sexual contact with the complainant.
