Sean Michael Opsal: 1977 – 2026

Sean Michael Opsal, a cherished son, brother, uncle, devoted partner, loving father, and steadfast friend, passed away on May 13, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted nearly five years. Born on April 1, 1977, in Libertyville, Illinois, Sean brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Sean was the beloved son of Richard J. Opsal and Janice E. (O’Brien) Opsal. He is survived by his devoted partner, Kristine Seeklander, and their cherished daughter, Mika Seeklander Opsal, who were his greatest sources of joy and inspiration. Sean also leaves behind his siblings, sister, Kristin Opsal and brother, Adam Opsal; along with Adam’s wife, Britnee and their sons, Brayden, Ryker, Maddox, and Trexler Opsal, his beloved nephews. His extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Sean’s educational journey began in Wright, Wyoming, where he graduated as Salutatorian from Wright High School in 1995. He continued his studies at the University of Wyoming. Over the years, Sean worked at Trader Joe’s in Seattle. Most recently, he was dedicated to his role at Seattle Marine and Fish, where he oversaw daily operations in the warehouse, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues.

Sean was a man of varied interests and passions. He enjoyed his travels through Europe and South America, also later traveling with Kristine and Mika to Mexico. He delighted in the intricate world of Legos and the epic stories of Star Wars, and he was a voracious consumer of music and movies from all genres. An ardent fan of the Denver Broncos, Sean never missed an opportunity to cheer for his favorite team. He had a deep appreciation for whiskey, reveling in its rich flavors and stories. His true happiness, however, was found in the simple joys of life—spending time with Kristine and Mika and savoring the camaraderie of karaoke and trivia nights with friends at the local bar, where his quick wit and easy-going nature shone brightly.

Sean’s gentle spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the warm memories and stories shared by those who loved him.

A celebration of Sean’s life will be held on July 11, 2026, at noon at the Wright Community Center, located at 201 Wright Blvd, Wright, Wyoming.
